Who is Mofeed Fawzy?

The death of the Egyptian media figure and journalist, Moufid Fawzy, Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the age of 89, after a struggle with illness.

Fawzi’s health condition deteriorated recently, and he was transferred to the hospital, where he underwent surgery that included the installation of a catheter and a stent in the bile ducts, but his condition deteriorated further, and he suffered from severe pain.

Who is Mofeed Fawzy?

An Egyptian journalist, nicknamed “The Interlocutor.” His father, Fawzi Saad, was an employee at the Ministry of Health, while his mother, Mrs. Maryam Farag, was a housewife, and she encouraged him to develop his journalistic talent from a young age. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts – Cairo University, Department of English in 1959.

He married the late broadcaster, Amal Al-Omda, on May 1, 1968, who passed away on March 11, 2001. He had a daughter, Hanan Mufid Fawzy, a journalist and writer.

Moufid Fawzy enriched the world of journalism and television with his various investigations and his dialogues with the most important political, literary and artistic figures in the Arab world during his career. Egyptian TV screen.

After a long career that he spent in the world of preparation, the decision was made by the media, Samia Sadek, to appear on Egyptian television in 1982 to present his programs himself, and his text was as follows: “The best person to present a program is the one who prepares it.” The most important programs he presented on the screen were:

“An Era of Art” on Umm Kulthum.

“My friend who is promised torment” on the authority of Abdel Halim Hafez.

“Cannon Before Bread Sometimes” with Field Marshal Abdel Halim Abu Ghazaleh.

“The Musician and I” and an extended dialogue with Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab.

Separate TV episodes directed by Jamil Jamil Al-Maghazi with many pioneers of literature, art and politics, such as: Amr Diab, Ihsan Abdel Quddous, Youssef Idris, Yahya Hakki, Mrs. Moufida Abdel Rahman (the first female lawyer in Egypt), Mustafa Amin, Naguib Mahfouz, Ahmed Zewail, Farouk El-Baz and Muhammad ElBaradei, and others.

Moufid Fawzy contributed to the preparation of many radio programs, the most important of which are: “Ramadan Fawazeer” with Amal Fahmy for 10 years. “I agree.. I refuse.” Presented by Sanaa Mansour. “A Cup of Tea” presented by Samia Sadek.

He also presented radio episodes on Middle East Radio, including: “Guest on a Summer Night”, “Thoughts on the Air” in the Alwan program with Madiha Naguib, “Where are they now”, and “Nujoom Al-Shari”.

He prepared many radio programs for Arab radio stations in Jordan, the Emirates and Qatar. He contributed to the preparation of many television programmes.

Mufd Fawzi interviewed the former President of Egypt, Muhammad Hosni Mubarak, 4 times. He also interviewed all the interior ministers, starting with Hassan Abu Pasha, Ahmed Rushdi, Zaki Badr Hassan Al-Alfi, and even Habib Al-Adly.

As well as many prime ministers in Egypt, the most important of which are: Atef Ebeid, Kamal Hassan Ali, Ali Lotfi, Kamal Al-Ganzouri, and Ahmed Nazif.
