The girl who wanted to be a missing child

After claiming she was Maddie McCann, a Polish woman now says she could be one of the Swiss twins abducted by their father in 2011. But nothing matches.

Julia Faustyna is convinced that her parents are not the real ones. The latter say that she especially has an intense need to be known.

Instagram snap

The news had something to be immediately taken with tweezers as soon as it was announced. Since February 14, a Polish woman, Julia Faustyna, claims on her Instagram account created for the occasion to be in fact Maddie McCann. This is the little Briton who disappeared in Portugal in 2007 and has never been seen since. A man, Christian Bruckner, in prison for rape, is suspected of having kidnapped the little girl at the time.

The young woman advanced physical details in common and memories of having been abused in her childhood. Besides the fact that Maddie would be 19 today and Julia is 21, the Pole’s own parents were forced to intervene to ensure that she was indeed their daughter, that they had pictures of her and his birth certificate.

Psychological disorders

But the young woman did not let go. She is represented by Fia Johansson, who calls herself a private detective, psychologist and medium and who wanted to force Julia’s parents to do a DNA test, claiming that their daughter’s birth certificate could be a fake. The latter refused and specified that their daughter suffers from psychological disorders and that she has unsuccessfully tested “many therapies, drugs, psychologists and psychiatrists”, according to BFMTV.

The assertion launched by Julia Faustyna would rather be motivated by a desire for notoriety that she has always nurtured and that she ended up obtaining with this affair. But last Thursday, Instagram closed its account following reports from Internet users who accused it of fraud and spreading false information. Julia immediately opened another, still accessible.

“Open to the idea of being Livia”

And Internet users then pointed out to her that, according to them, she would look more like Livia, one of the twins of Saint-Sulpice (VD), kidnapped by their father in 2011. The latter had been found dead, but more no trace of the girls since. What does Julia think of this?

“Julia is very open to the idea that she could be Livia and we are studying this possibility, said the medium of the young woman. I talked to her about it and she’s open that she could be any missing child, not just Madeleine. Julia just wants to know the truth about who she is.” And what does it matter if, again, Livia would be 19 today and not 21.

“Blick” submitted the photos of Julia and those of Maddie and Livia to a Swiss facial recognition company and, unsurprisingly, the verdict is clear: 99% they are not the same people. What is striking about this story is that the major British popular media, such as the “Daily Mirror” or the “Guardian” did not even pick up this story, despite being so quick to deal with anything that is in connection with the Maddie case.

No doubt because the assertions of the Polish woman are not based on much and especially for the pain that the relatives of the missing children must feel. Because there is obviously a great risk that both the twins and Maddie are no longer in this world. But, as a parent, there is always a glimmer of hope. And Julia probably turns it on again wrongly. She may be in good faith, but not realizing that her own distress is fueling other pains.
