Wey Coffee 02 (2023): Price & Engine

With the Wey Coffee 02, Great Wall Motors (GWM) from China will be sending their second SUV to Germany in 2023. The technical data are already known, the price not yet.

The brand from China puts the Wey Coffee 02 alongside the big brother Coffee 01. The market launch is scheduled for the first half of 2023 in Germany. The second Coffee has a length of 4668 millimeters, a width of 1890 millimeters and a height of 1730 millimeters and is therefore in the middle class below the Coffee 01. A plug-in hybrid system with a four-cylinder engine serves as the drive. With front-wheel drive, this is supported by an electric motor on the front axle, the system output is 270 kW (367 hp) with a torque of 400 Newton meters. As an all-wheel drive, a second electric motor works on the rear axle and increases the system output to 325 kW (442 hp). The torque increases to 847 Newton meters. The Wey Coffee 02 (2023) should sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. As a front-wheel drive it is 7.3 seconds. The Chinese give the top speed as 230 km/h. The Coffee 02 can also move purely electrically. According to the manufacturer, the maximum range should be achieved thanks to a 34 kWh battery at 124 with front-wheel drive and 145 kilometers with all-wheel drive. Price, engine and electric range of the plug-in hybrid Wey Coffee 02 (2023)

Like the first Coffee, the Wey Coffee 02 (2023) comes up with an armada of assistance and safety systems. The latest technology from China also includes Level 2+ autonomous driving, which is made possible with computer chips from Qualcomm, a total of 17 radar sensors, four all-round cameras and a particularly high-resolution front camera. The interior hardly differs from the first European model from Wey. The central touchscreen in landscape format for the infotainment system and vehicle functions sits on the dashboard and measures 14.6 inches. Below are air vents, the climate control works via a 9.0-inch screen below. The third, very flat monitor sits behind the steering wheel and serves as a digital multi-instrument. The manufacturer has not yet published any information on the price of the Wey Coffee 02 (2023). With a view to the larger Coffee 01, which is available from 55,900 euros (as of November 2022), the Wey Coffee 02 will probably be slightly less than this amount. The SUV has been available in China since 2021 under the name Wey Latte. Converted, the entry-level version costs around 21,850 euros there.

Our conclusion

The Great Wall Motors group has started its European offensive. The Wey brand also wants to gain a foothold in Germany with partially electrified SUVs. Good arguments for the Wey Coffee 02 (2023) will probably not only be the price, but also the advanced technology.
