Who will ascend the throne of world football? Will Argentina do it with their superstar Lionel Messi or will France stay on top after the 2018 triumph? These two nations will host the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar this Sunday, December 18.

The showdown between Argentina and France will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail, kick-off at 4pm Central European Time. Coach Didier Deschamps’ Équipe Tricolore could become the first country since 1962 to defend the golden World Cup. Brazil last managed to do that 60 years ago.

Good news: The final of the World Cup can now be followed live on free-to-air television in Germany as a matter of course. So you just have to know where exactly a transmission is offered.

In the past few days and weeks of the tournament, the ARD and the ZDF the broadcasting of the games is divided up alternately. For the second, the live coverage of the World Cup ended with the semi-final between France and Morocco, bringing the accompaniment of the final of the ARD due.

Transmission starts there today at 3 p.m. when moderator Jessy Wellmer first reports with the experts Sami Khedira, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Almuth Schult from the studio in Mainz.
