The crime against journalists Dilia Contreras and Leiner Montero left Colombia in mourning. The two professionals were returning from the patron saint festivities of the Santa Rosa de Lima township, in the municipality of Fundación, when they were shot by two individuals who were traveling on a motorcycle.
The cameraman Joaquín Gutiérrez was injured in the incident, who was in the back of the vehicle in which he was traveling with Contreras and Gutiérrez. The man He was shot twice in the arm and is admitted to the Fundación hospital.

According to the preliminary version provided by the Magdalena Police, the motorcycle grillman shot at them on different occasions and killed Contreras, 39, and Montero, 37.
Why two journalists were murdered in Magdalena
For now, The Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are studying three hypotheses for the bullet attack in which the journalists diedand that left a friend and colleague of theirs injured, reported Noticias Caracol.
One of the versions suggests that the attack was motivated by a fight in which Montero was allegedly involved in Santa Rosa de Lima. “After this act of intolerance, the journalist decides to leave in his car together with Dilia and another man, and on the way they are killed”he pointed Colonel Andrés Serna, commander of the Magdalena Police.
Nevertheless, The colonel did not rule out that it was an attempt to rob the communicators. Apparently, the road they were traveling on is lonely, and in combination with the time, they could have been prey to common crime.

A direct attack on journalists is also not ruled out, since due to their functions they could have had enemies. “The testimony of the third occupant will be transcendental to have a clear hypothesis of the facts and to be able to identify the authors,” the colonel pointed out.
