LIVE | Cabinet leaves room after comment Baudet about study Kaag to ‘spy college’, chairman silences him | Instagram

The entire cabinet has left the plenary room of the House of Representatives after comments by Thierry Baudet about the place where Deputy Prime Minister Sigrid Kaag studied. According to the foreman of Forum for Democracy, Kaag studied at a ‘spy college’. Kaag studied at St Antony’s College, Oxford. According to Baudet, ‘everyone knows’ that the British secret services recruited spies there. Follow the debate via the live blog at the bottom of this article.

It has never happened before that ‘section K’, as the section with all cabinet members is called, is completely empty. Chamber president Vera Bergkamp immediately stopped the debate. It is by far the hardest clash on day one of political reflections.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he took his seat in the House of Representatives again after more than fifteen minutes after consultation with the rest of the cabinet. On behalf of the cabinet, he declares: “The moment a colleague is accused of what she has been accused of, a border has been crossed.”

Chamber chairman Bergkamp asks Thierry Baudet if he wants to take back his words. He calls it ‘absurd’ what is happening and refuses to do so. Bergkamp then excludes him from further debate. “I am very sorry, you are no longer allowed to participate in today’s deliberations.”

Baudet still argues, but does not get the word anymore. The cabinet has now rejoined and the debate continues in the House of Representatives. GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver, who had let Baudet speak earlier because of his heavily pregnant wife, starts his contribution ironically: “I will let someone go first.”

GroenLinks, like other opposition parties, is critical of VVD party leader Sophie Hermans earlier in the day. The sky-high energy bills would be compensated ‘too late’ and ‘too little’. Her coalition partner D66 party leader Jan Paternotte is also fiercely lashed out. The Party for the Animals and GroenLinks make mincemeat of his party’s ‘climate talks’. “D66 is worse than Shell.”

The fact that D66 party chairman Jan Paternotte says he is satisfied with the steps taken is completely wrong with Klaver. “For four years you will not achieve the climate goals,” he emphasizes. ,,The green washing at D66 is even worse than the green washing at Shell”, he bites Paternotte. Greenwashing is a marketing ploy. Companies use this trick to appear sustainable and thus polish their image.

PvdD Party leader Esther Ouwehand believes that D66 should take action for circular agriculture. Food is produced in a more sustainable way by reusing land and raw materials. ,,Otherwise, the talk about circular agriculture is really free and cheap.” Paternotte acknowledges that pace is needed.

PVV: ‘The cabinet must answer to the Supreme Court’
Geert Wilders also announces a formal ‘indictment’. The PVV leader claims that the cabinet is acting in violation of the Constitution because people end up in poverty. According to him, ‘deliberately intervened too late’. “A cabinet that acts contrary to the Constitution commits a crime of office, which carries a maximum prison sentence of three years.” How real is such a charge? Read more here.

The PVV leader dismisses the contribution of VVD leader Sophie Hermans as: ‘passionless and soulless’. According to Wilders, this was: “The weakest story ever.” He wonders: “Has the face of the VVD become a bit the back of the head of D66?” According to Hermans, Wilders has been shouting from the opposition benches for 25 years. with tear-jerking stories. “The moment Mr Wilders takes responsibility, he runs away.”
