The husband of the PSDB candidate for the state government of Pernambuco, Rachel Lyra, Fernando Lucena, 44 years old, died in Caruaru, this morning, of a massive heart attack, on the day of the first round of state elections. He was 44 years old.

Raquel Lyra appeared in this final stretch of the campaign in second place in the most recent polls, alongside Miguel Coelho. IPEC gave both 17% of the valid votes, with federal deputy Marília Arraes ahead in the polls, with 38% of the valid votes.

The mayor of Caruaru, Rodrigo Pinheiro, who was Raquel Lyra’s deputy, declared three days of official mourning in the city. He released an official statement:

Fernando Lucena was rescued after feeling sick. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive.

According to local information, at the time, she could have launched a name from the region for the dispute and the names of the president of the Chamber, Lula Tôrres and her husband, Fernando Lucena were quoted. However, Raquel decided to support Priscilla Krause (DEM) for state and Daniel Coelho (Cida) for federal. In this election, Priscila Krause ended up as vice president.

According to speculation, her husband Fernando Lucena wanted to enter politics. Raquel is heir to a lineage of politicians from the Pernambuco Agreste region that includes her uncle, Fernando Lyra, now deceased, who was a deputy and minister of Justice, in addition to her father, former governor João Lyra Neto, and her grandfather, João Lyra Filho, who was mayor of Caruaru in the middle of the last century and also a deputy.

Marília Arraes publishes note of condolence

Candidate Marília Arraes, from Solidarity, released a note of regret:

Miguel Coelho said he was dismayed
