The two crew members who died in the crash of the FAB (Brazilian Air Force) plane in Santa Catarina have been identified. The bodies were found charred around noon this Saturday (5) in a forested area of ​​Canelinha.

The ND+ found that one of the victims is Sergio Branquinho Junior, 22 years old, member of the AFA (Academia da Força Aérea), in Pirassununga (SP), for the fourth year. The young man is the son of an engineer from the city of Ribeirão Preto (SP). The second victim has not yet been officially identified, but it is Captain Alves.

The FAB plane, an instructional T-25, left Pirassununga for Florianópolis, but lost its signal on Friday afternoon (4), when the Military Fire Department was called by the Air Force. This Saturday morning, the FAB used its own plane and helicopters for the search.

The searches were coordinated by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center of Curitiba (PR), with the help of the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department. The FAB said it will investigate the causes of the accident.

According to the city of Florianópolis, the aircraft was completely destroyed. Brazilian Air Force teams were called to accompany the removal of the bodies. In a statement, the FAB expressed its condolences and informed that it is providing assistance to the relatives of the military personnel killed in the accident.

“The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) regrets to inform the death of the two soldiers who were aboard the T-25 Universal aircraft of the Air Force Academy (AFA) – which crashed this Friday afternoon (11/04) in Santa Catarina and located late Saturday morning (11/05). The crew performed a training flight.”
