“I’m not a singer who does the same thing over and over. I find it interesting to change and dare. It’s very healthy. I am open and I have a very wide range. I keep my own singing style, but I like different styles of music,” she said. “Estratospheric is an album that I wanted to have a rock vibe, something I did in the 1960s, at the time of Tropicalismo.”

Aged 72 at the time, when asked the secret of her freshness and joviality, she said it was in her temper. “I like to live, to work, I have a zest. That’s my way. I don’t think I’m as old as I am. My spiritual age is different,” she said.

With the same twinkle in her eye, Gal talked about Gabriel, her 12-year-old son at the time. When she was at home, in addition to catching up on sleep, updating herself on the news and paying her bills on the internet, the Bahian made a point of following the day to day of her heir and enjoying his company.

“I fight, I have teeth brushed, showered… Everything a mother does. I’m a tough mother, but at the same time soft. When he asks me for something, he doesn’t deny it. My heart always leans more to give in. I love him in a way… It’s crazy! When he gets home, it’s a happiness you can’t calculate. His presence is a joy”, said Gal.
