Yamaha do Brasil launched the NOVA NMAX CONNECTED 160 ABS, its first connected scooter, on the national market, with a suggested public price of R$19,690.00 + regional freight (R$20,345.00 + Shipping price to the state of São Paulo) and the special matte gray color (Matt Gray) at the price of R$ 19,990.00 + regional shipping (R$ 20,655.00 + SP price).
The model has a Bluetooth connection with the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect app, Yamaha Connect, which makes it possible to manage the NMAX usage and performance indicators, schedule maintenance, compare the most economical riding mode, locate the last parking spot, receive notifications of calls and messages, as well as being able to mark and share the most interesting routes on social networks.
The NMAX Connected 160 ABS brings other innovations, such as the rear wheel traction control system, which associated with the ABS brakes on both wheels, gives greater control when riding in low grip conditions, new rear shock absorbers with manual adjustment and new Pirelli Diablo Scooter tires.
The model continues with a 4-year warranty, and with the Fixed Price Review program.
A novelty is the adjustable rear suspension with 86mm of travel, and now with two levels of manual adjustment. By turning the knob located on top of the shock absorbers to choose the position that most pleases the driver, one being soft and the other firm.
At the front, the telescopic fork type shock absorbers have a stroke of 100mm and, as at the rear, they have a calibration that favors comfort.
Regarding the wheels, the front wheels have a diameter of 13 inches and are sporty in design and are made of light alloy, weighing 530g at the front and 710g at the rear.
The tires are Pirelli Diablo Scooter, derived from larger motorcycles, being suitable for urban traffic and for use in short and medium distance journeys. Its measurements are 110/70 in the front and 130/70 in the rear.
Regarding the design, it is derived from XMAX ABS. It has an optical set with LED headlights on the front, and split LED flashlights on the rear.
The model has a storage compartment with a capacity of 25 liters, capable of housing a full-size full-face helmet and other small belongings. Its opening is done through a button next to the selector switch that turns on the scooter. The compartment automatically locks with the Smart Key away.
It also has two storage compartments capable of holding documents, a wallet or a smartphone, which can even be charged via a 12V socket located inside the storage compartment on the left.
The 2023 Yamaha NMAX Connected 160 ABS features the Stop & Start system, which identifies when the vehicle stops and automatically turns off the engine. The engine restarts with low noise and vibration when the rider turns the throttle grip slightly, and the scooter starts moving again.
This system can be activated or deactivated according to the pilot’s wishes, through a button on the handle.
NMAX Connected’s multifunction panel is digital, with LED lighting. In addition, it has a total odometer and two partial odometers, clock, on-board computer that indicates instantaneous fuel consumption, scooter battery charge level, engine temperature and CVT (Continuosly Variable) belt change V-BELT indicator. transmission).
It is also equipped with an engine temperature indicator, Stop & Start mode indicator, presence key indicator and VVA indicator, which, when lit, informs the pilot that the VVA system is in action, delivering better performance. This indication can be deactivated on the panel without influencing the functioning of the VVA.
The engine is a single cylinder with four valves, single command and liquid cooling, capable of yielding a maximum power of 15.4 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 1.4 kgf.m of torque at 6,500 rpm.
With a capacity of 7.1 liters of gasoline, it represents an average range, without the reserve, of around 250 km. Its cover has the same opening as your seat, it works by simply touching the button next to the selector switch that turns on the scooter. When the NMAX is off, the cover is locked, preventing it from opening. Its positioning at the bottom of the scooter contributes to mass centralization being concentrated at the bottom, favoring agility.
