Michelle Vicky Nedergaard: ‘Helgstrand sold my horse behind my back’

The Danish newspaper Nordjyske does not give up on Helgstrand Dressage. In an article published yesterday, Michelle Vicky Nedergaard alleges that Helgstrand sold a horse in her co-ownership without her knowledge (and without paying). The buyer would be the Dutch multimillionaire Jan Anker, the co-owner of Hermès.

Nedergaard, who runs Dressage together with her husband Nedergaard and is the breeder of, among other things, the stallion Iron (s. Ibiza), tells the story as follows: the Danish recently wanted the Rezano (Revolution x Blue Hors Zack) at Helgstrand. That was not possible because Rezano was no longer there: ‘he has been sold’, Nedergaard was told.

Cheating

Nedergaard was in shock: “I have a contract that states that I own 50% and that the horse cannot be sold without my permission.” Nedergaard also says he was lied to: “In the spring of 2022 I was told that Rezano was almost ready to be sold, now it appears that he was already sold in July 2021.”

“It’s cheating. I now have half a horse in the Netherlands that was sold without my permission. I have not received any money and have not even been told that it was sold.”

Price

There is also uncertainty about the price. “I was not allowed to see the purchase agreement at first. They want to give me about 35,000 euros for my half, I think it was sold for a much higher price.”

After some tug-of-war, Nedergaard got to see the bill, but it didn’t get any clearer. Rezano has a price of 50,000 euros, but in the same deal a second horse was also sold, the price of which was crossed out and Anker is said to have sent a horse to Helgstrand (without a price being indicated).

John Anchor

Nedergaard does not want the fact that multimillionaire Jan Anker, the CEO and major shareholder of dairy group Royal-A-Ware, has made a big jump to 220 million euros this year, according to Quote, has bought a relatively cheap horse like Rezano and an even cheaper horse sent to Denmark. According to Helgstrand Dressage, it was a horse for his daughters.

Both Nedergaard and Nordjyske contacted Anker without success.

No comment from Helgstrand and Waterland

Neither Helgstrand Dressage nor private equity investor Waterland (which has a majority stake in Helgstrand) would like to comment in Nordjyske. Helgstrand only answers the questions: “I don’t want to tell you how to investigate, but you could also ask your Source these questions.”

Nedergaard is considering taking legal action against both Helgstrand and Waterland, according to Nordjyske she no longer wants to do business with Helgstrand.
