The body of Brazilian Nancy Howery, 44 years old, was found dismembered and charred in Florida, in the United States. The victim’s girlfriend, Daniel Stearns, 32, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and mutilating a corpse.

Nancy was originally from Salvador, the capital of Bahia, and was reported missing from Indian Harbor Beach on February 18 after she failed to show up to pick up her children from school.

According to investigations, Daniel shot Nancy to death after an argument on February 15, three days before he disappeared. To hide the crime, the victim’s boyfriend would have dismembered the body, burned and buried the remains in different places.

“The suspect later returned to the crime scene and burned the victim’s body in an attempt to destroy any evidence linking him to the murder. After burning the body, the assailant took the victim’s charred remains and scattered them in various locations, including burying them in various areas,” the Brevard County Sheriff’s statement reads.

According to investigators, Nancy and Stearns met through social media and had a loving relationship ever since.

After the disappearance of the Brazilian, the police began to monitor Daniel and, last Thursday (9/3), the victim’s boyfriend was seen at the crime scene discarding evidence of the murder.
