The accident happened at the end of the morning on the German A3, a few kilometers across the border at the Elten exit. A Porsche Cayman became uncontrollable there due to aquaplaning, due to the amount of rainwater on the roadway, and ended up in a ditch along the road.

The 42-year-old driver and his 37-year-old female passenger managed to get out of the car and stood on the hard shoulder. A 39-year-old Dutchman who saw the accident happen stopped to help the victims.
