United State

A few days before Russia invaded Ukraine, US President spoke at a press conference, saying, “If Russia invades…there will be no Nord Stream 2. We will finish it.”

While the press reporter commented on Biden’s statement, saying: “But how are you going to do that exactly, because the project is under the control of Germany?… I promise you that we will be able to do it.”

This comes amid assurances by the European Union’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell that the gas leak in two undersea pipelines linking Russia with Germany this week is not a coincidence, amid indications of deliberate action.

Radoslav Tweet

Hours ago, the tweet of the Polish politician Radoslaw Sikorsky, who heads the delegation of European relations with the United States, sparked controversy in which he said: Thank you, America.

On the other hand, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said today that Moscow is awaiting the European Union’s reaction to the statements of former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorsky, who posted in a tweet a voice from the location of the gas leak attached to the phrase “Thank you to the United States.”

The tweet came in the wake of the leak that occurred in the famous gas transmission line “Nord Stream 1” as well as “Norstream 2,” amid frequent speculations of deliberate sabotage of the line that transports gas from Russia to Europe.

It is noteworthy that the United States became the largest global exporter of liquefied gas in the world during the first half of 2022 after replacing Russia in European gas exports.

The Polish politician said there is no shortage of gas pipeline capacity to transport gas from Russia to Western Europe, including Germany.

“All the Ukrainian and Baltic states have opposed Nordstream construction for 20 years,” Sikorsky added. “Now there is $20 billion in scrap metal on the sea floor, another cost to Russia of its criminal decision to invade Ukraine.”

3 explosions

The pipeline operator (TADAWUL:2360) said three offshore lines suffered “unprecedented” damage in one day, which could cause a significant escalation of the energy crisis between Russia and Europe.

No option can be ruled out at the moment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on a conference call with reporters, the Swedish Maritime Authority issued an alert about two leaks in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, shortly after a leak was discovered in the nearby Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The Danish army announced, based on photographs in its possession, that the three leaks appeared on the surface, forming circles with a diameter ranging between 200 and 1,000 meters, after three explosions were detected by earthquake scanners.

America is a party to the conflict

The Kremlin warned on Wednesday of the dangers posed by the United States’ growing involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, which is close to becoming a party to it.

Russia’s ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said that the United States is approaching a dangerous edge by talking about the permissibility of Kyiv’s use of Western weapons in the bombing of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye provinces.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the United States does not oppose the Ukrainian army’s use of Western weapons in areas that may join Russia.

The Russian ambassador added: “Ukrainian sponsors are approaching that dangerous edge that we have warned many times clearly and precisely. The United States is turning into a party to the Ukrainian conflict.”
