Al-Furqan Foundation, the media arm of the organization, broadcast an audio recording of a spokesman for ISIS, announcing the death of “Abu al-Hassan,” who was chosen to lead the organization last March.

The spokesman, Abu Omar al-Muhajir, also announced, according to what was reported by “Fox News,” the new caliph of the organization, revealing his name as “Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi.”

The ISIS spokesman’s audio message did not explain the details of the death of the late leader of the organization, nor did he specify the date of his death or the party responsible for his killing.

And the text of the message that was issued, on Wednesday, to Abu Omar Al-Muhajir, a spokesman for ISIS, stated: “I announce and mourn for the Islamic State and the fighters of the great Islamic State (the absence of) the Commander of the Faithful and the Caliph of the Muslims, Abu Al-Hassan Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi.. He was killed while fighting the enemies of God.”

The slain ISIS leader was chosen to lead the organization last March, after US President announced the killing of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Qurashi in a military operation in northwestern Syria.

For his part, National Security Council coordinator John Kirby told reporters, Wednesday: “We certainly welcome the news of the killing of another ISIS leader.”

He continued, “I do not have any additional details to provide at this time. We are still working to find out the details of the event.”

But when pressed about whether the United States had confirmed the death of the ISIS leader, who would be the second ISIS leader to be killed in a year, he said only: “We welcome the announcement that another ISIS leader is no longer walking the face of the earth.”

Notably, details of the ISIS leader’s death including (how, when, and where?) have not been released by the group, and the White House has yet to independently confirm al-Quraishi’s death.

The assassination of Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi in Syria

Last February, US President Joe Biden officially announced the killing of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi in Syria.

Biden said in a statement published by the White House at the time: “On Wednesday night, and according to my orders, American special forces in northwestern Syria succeeded in carrying out an operation within the framework of combating terrorism.”

Biden added, “Thanks to the skill and courage of our armed forces, we removed Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Qurashi, the leader of the Islamic State, from the field. All our men returned safely from the operation.”

Who is the successor of “Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi” in the leadership of ISIS?!

An American official stated in press statements at the time that Al-Qurashi was killed at the beginning of the operation.

He explained that this happened when he detonated a bomb that claimed his life and the lives of his family members. In addition to civilians, including women and children, according to the US official.

Al-Qurashi, who is of Turkmen origin, was probably born in 1976. He is a graduate of Islamic sciences from the Iraqi University of Mosul.

He joined the ranks of the “Al-Qaeda” organization, after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, according to the “Counter Extremism Project” research center.
