The noose was tightening around Alexandra Gagné-Faucher, 29, who had been actively sought after the events that led to the death of a father, Stéphane Taillon, 53.
During the five-day run, investigators combed through surveillance camera footage and were able to establish a partial license plate, according to our information. The massive media coverage also played an important role in the investigation.

Shocked
The young woman appeared Wednesday afternoon at the courthouse, by videoconference. Looking paralyzed and in shock, almost on the verge of tears, she barely could articulate a word.
She faces serious charges of manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death and fatal hit-and-run. The maximum penalty is life in prison.
Several relatives of the victim had come to attend the appearance.
Through her lawyer, Me Sophie Beauvais, the accused pleaded not guilty.
The public prosecutor opposed his release. Gold, M.e Beauvais has mentioned a possible “exit plan” to be proposed to the Crown so that she can be released for the rest of the proceedings, but there is no indication that this will be accepted.

The accused is well known to the police, both criminally and for violations of the Highway Safety Code.
In the past, Gagné-Faucher has been convicted of possession of a weapon and drugs, as well as fabricating evidence.

She also has several tickets for speeding offenses committed in recent years. It has already been caught driving at 84 km/h in a 50 zone, 49 in a 30 zone, 123 and 125 in a 90 zone.

The woman was allegedly involved in a slight collision with the vehicle of Stéphane Taillon, 53 years old.
After the impact, Mr. Taillon got out of his car and was fatally struck by the other vehicle in what looked like an extreme case of road rage.
Very seriously injured, he was rushed to hospital, where he passed away 24 hours later.
The case is due back in court on Thursday.
