Two dead in boat accident in Anguilla

On Saturday March 11, 2023, around 10 a.m., a boat accident killed two people and sent four other individuals to hospital. The police are investigating the causes of the tragedy.

This March 11, around 10 a.m., the Anguilla police, firefighters and emergency services are called to the scene of an accident on the coast of Anguilla. A boat belonging to a Calypso Charters company has indeed “suffered a serious accident”, communicates the Anguilla police. This accident involved the death of two people, as well as the emergency dispatch of four other passengers and crew members to Princess Alexandra Hospital. The police are investigating to understand the causes of this accident.

“No words can express our pain”

Following this tragedy, the management of the company reacted by means of a press release: “In the name of the entire management of Calypso Charters, we confirm that during the morning, the captain and the crew of our Calypso 2 were involved in a fatal accident. We sadly confirm that we have lost our beloved companion, Shan. Brad is currently in the hospital, but alive. Three of our guests who were on board are also alive. However, one of the family members died in the accident. No words can express our pain. It is an extremely difficult and delicate situation. As management, we will continue to do our best to keep you informed of further developments”.

The government of Anguilla also reacted by expressing its full support and condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and by communicating a help line “to support anyone in emotional distress”.
