The city of Mainz is testing its sirens this Thursday to warn the population in an emergency. Therefore, various signals will sound in the afternoon. That’s planned.

MAINZ – In order to test their functionality, the sirens wail in the Mainz city area on Thursday morning. The administration reported this. Three signals are triggered in quick succession.

It starts at 2:58 p.m. with the “all clear” signal. Shortly thereafter, at 3 p.m., the signal “Warning of danger” should sound and at 3:05 p.m. the “all clear” will follow again. In addition, at 2.40 p.m. the fire brigade sends out a warning for the test run via the federal government’s modular warning system (MoWaS). Among other things, warning apps such as “Nina” or “Katwarn” are triggered and media authorities are informed.

No danger to the population

The city points out that there is no danger to the population at any time and asks that relatives and friends be informed.

A nationwide warning day was originally planned for September 8, but it was postponed. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has postponed this to December 8th. On this day of action, the population should be made aware of the warning in an emergency by activating various warning devices. The city of Mainz is also testing its sirens on the originally planned date.
