Croatia fans sing Nazi slogans – WEGA in the Prater Stadium – readers

At the international match between Austria and Croatia in Vienna, there were riots in the stands. WEGA had to move out.

Police speak of 150 “risk fans”

On request from “Today” the press office of the Vienna police confirmed the operation. The majority of Croatian fans behaved in an exemplary manner during the Nations League game, according to spokesman Christopher Verhnjak. But among the thousands of “fiery ones” (in Croatian: “Vatreni”), around 150 chaotic people mingled.

The police forces kept a particularly close eye on them, because: “Even before the game, these so-called risk fans in the inner city area were not well noticed.” In fact, entire garbage dumps in the city of Vienna caused a stir before the kick-off. Also about the behavior of some fans.

In the stadium, “Risk Fans” gathered in one sector, set off pyrotechnics and chanted insulting and right-wing slogans during the game. Fans thrown out “to protect peaceful fans and families”.

“When there were first direct clashes with peaceful fans and there were also families with children in the sector concerned, it was no longer acceptable for the police to leave these aggressors in the stadium. To protect the peaceful fans and families,” said the police spokesman.

The only logical consequence was that the police officers managed to get the group out of the sector and then out of the stadium thanks to the forces of WEGA and the Vienna Task Force and with massive resistance from the hooligans.
