Horgau: Casino Club demolished: Many have memories of the legendary disco

It was the time when there were still dance breaks. One mug of Goiss for 4.80 marks after the other went over the counter back then. At a later hour there was meat loaf or half a chicken. The Casino Club in Horgau was an institution. It reached its peak in the 1980s when stars like Falco brought people from all over the region to the legendary disco at the old Horgau train station. The nightclub has been history for decades. Now the striking building has also disappeared. What remains are countless memories of long party nights.

The news of the demolition caused a lot of reactions on social media. “What kind of party did we celebrate in the casino,” writes a reader: “Those were the days.” Another commented: “Long ago, great time, really a shame.” At the age of 14, he was there for the first time, writes another nostalgic user. Many emphasize that they celebrated unforgettable parties in the Horgau Casino Club back then. This comment reads a little wistfully: “Well, that’s the way of time, the grandchildren’s generation just whiles away the time elsewhere…”

Another comment shows that the fate of the former cult disco in Horgau is not an isolated case. A user lists other examples: The Marco Polo in Langenneufnach, the Vanessa in Ziemetshausen, the Old Man in Dinkelscherben – all history. In fact, there are currently some former taverns or bars that have to make way for new construction projects. New living space is now being built on the site of the former casino club in Horgau. Eleven residential units are planned. The apartments with around five rooms are for sale for more than 600,000 euros. The Tanzpalast in Horgau is finally history. “What remains is the memory of a wonderful, carefree youth,” summarizes one of the commenters on Facebook.
