On the A3 motorway near Emmerich, two Porsches skidded in quick succession at the same point – four people lost their lives.
Düsseldorf – Terrible accident on the A3 motorway near Emmerich (Kreis Kleve). Four people died on Sunday morning, including a first responder. Two Porsche vehicles were involved in the accident.
The deadly drama on the autobahn just across the border from the Netherlands: probably a chain of rain-soaked roads, inappropriate speed and unfortunate circumstances. And that’s what happened, according to the police.

► First a Dutchman lost lost control of his Porsche Cayman in the direction of Cologne, ended up in a ditch. But the 42-year-old and his passenger (37) were able to get out of the vehicle.
► Another Porsche driver saw the accident, stopped. The first responder (39) spoke to the injured Dutchman on the hard shoulder as the disaster unfolded.
► A Porsche 911 got stuck in the same place into a skid. The man behind the wheel, 57 years old and also Dutch, first crashed into the three people on the hard shoulder and then into the crash barrier.
► The first aider and the passenger of the Cayman died instantly, the driver of the Porsche Cayman and the driver of the Porsche 911 died a little later in the hospital.
The police blocked the A3 for several hours in the direction of Cologne, reports 24RHEIN. A traffic accident team secured tracks. This is to explain exactly how this terrible accident could have happened. There are no indications of an illegal car race, according to the Düsseldorf motorway police dpa. The Dutch people who died in the accident may have been a group.
Just one day earlier, there had been a fatal accident further down the A3 autobahn: near Leverkusen, a man ran across the A3 and was hit by a Sprinter (Opel Movano). The 21-year-old did not survive the collision. (kem with ots, dpa)
