On Thursday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on the North/Weinviertel Autobahn (A5) near Poysdorf, in which two children and a man died.

A traffic accident on the Nord/Weinviertel Autobahn (A5) near Poysdorf in the Mistelbach district claimed three lives late Thursday evening.

Accident on A5: Two children and drivers died

According to the police, a Czech family’s car had hit a truck. Of the car occupants, a boy (1), a girl (4) and the driver (46) died. The 39-year-old woman and mother was injured just as badly as a four-year-old. According to the Lower Austria State Police Headquarters, the family was traveling on the Brno lane when the accident happened. The 46-year-old at the wheel is likely to have left the lane to the right due to fatigue. The car crashed into the rear of a trailer truck parked in a breakdown bay.

Car hit truck

All five car occupants had to be freed from the wreckage by the fire brigade. Any help came too late for the 46-year-old father, the one-year-old son and the seven-year-old daughter. The emergency doctor could only determine death. The 39-year-old was flown to a clinic in Brno by a Czech helicopter. The four-year-old was transported to the Donaustadt clinic by “Christophorus 2”.

The 43-year-old driver of the semitrailer and his 13-year-old son were not injured. In addition to the two helicopters, two ambulances and five ambulances were deployed at the scene of the accident.
