The launch of the new Galaxy S23 family is near. According to leaked information, Samsung's flagship line should be announced as early as February. Among the main novelties is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Information released by the South Korean portal IT Homefamous for advancing Samsung news, already give an idea of ​​what the prices of new premium devices may be in the Brazilian market.

Despite the fact that the Galaxy S23 line smartphones have a higher production cost, they should have the same prices as the S22 series. Abroad, the standard model of the previous standard generation was launched for US$ 799, the Plus version for US$ 999 and the more robust version, the Ultra, came out with a suggested price of US$ 1,199.

In Brazil, the suggested prices at the launch of the cell phones were R$5,999 for the standard version, R$6,999 for the Plus model, and R$10,499 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

However, it is worth disclaimer: the price analysis considers the values ​​for the foreign market. This means that, in Brazil, the standard is not necessarily maintained — due to extra costs and tariffs that do not enter into this production account.

One of the main factors responsible for the higher production cost of the S23 cell phones are the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors, more expensive than their predecessors, which, in addition to being cheaper, were manufactured by Samsung itself. This ended up lowering costs even further.

The company opted for the strategy of maintaining the prices of the previous generation to avoid losing possible smartphone buyers. A very different measure from that adopted by Apple, which should also have an increase in the production price of its chips, but will pass it on to the final consumer – which should make the iPhone a little more expensive.
